It’s hard to imagine what “normal” will be once the world moves forward from the Covid-19 virus and associated quarantine. Our lives have been forever changed, and simple things like the purchase of toilet tissue or eggs has become a stressful event.
The added pressures of daily life combined with job loss in many cases has created the perfect storm of stress and anxiety. With everyone sheltering in place, this anxiety has now found it’s way into every aspect of our lives. While some people are feeling isolated and alone as they shelter in place by themselves, others are experiencing a different problem.
With so many people being quarantined together, including many times other family members, there is a different stress revolving around being around each other too much. Sharing an internet connection, home schooling your children, taking care of basic necessities and even just giving each other space can be a real problem.
It’s no surprise that this stress may be taking a toll on relationships and even marriages. Spending lots of time together in a high anxiety environment can cause small cracks in relationships to become big cracks, and before you know it your marriage is in trouble.
I’m fully aware that most people don’t want to expose themselves to any additional risk by visiting a doctor or therapist, so I did some checking. As it turns out there are not only lots of choices for phone counseling, but there are all sorts of over the phone therapy that are even recommended by your health insurance.
A quick check with my health care company netted several dozen phone counseling options..and with travel distances out of play, it was really easy to find over the phone therapy in my area.
With so many options available, don’t wait too long to seek help with your relationships or your marriage…and whether the need comes from Covid-19 or normal day-to-day stressors, help is not only available, but available over the phone.
