#FlagshipFebruary Shines Spotlight on a Magic Hat Classic

From Magic Hat:

South Burlington, VT – The Magic Hat Brewing Company is celebrating its flagship Not Quite
Pale Ale, #9, during what has been dubbed #FlagshipFebruary. This month-long celebration of
flagship beers aims to give recognition to the beers that carry the heavy loads for breweries but
tend to get overlooked by the “new is better” trend of today.

#FlagshipFebruary, created by the beer writer Stephen Beaumont, is a month-long international
celebration of flagship beers. Beaumont is quoted as saying, “In this mad rush towards the
unusual and unknown, we tend to forget the great, familiar and still-wonderful beers that guided
us all along the path to the craft beer renaissance.

#9 Not Done Pleasing Palates
Magic Hat’s #9 has long been equated with mystery, as the source of its flavors has never truly
been revealed. First released as a summer seasonal in 1994, the year Magic Hat came to be, #9
gained a massive cult following in and around its home of Burlington, VT. After witnessing the
fanfare firsthand, the brewery decided to go all-in and started brewing #9 year-round. Ever since,
it has been Magic Hat’s #1 selling brand and has, quite literally, kept the lights on at their South
Burlington brewery.

“Beaumont makes a great point in saying that just because a beer is new or weird, that doesn’t
make it good,” said Mark Hegedus, president of Magic Hat. “We’ve become stuck in this ‘beer-
of-the-week” mentality where there’s not much loyalty to the beers that opened our minds to the
possibilities of craft beer. The #FlagshipFebruary movement is a way to rekindle that flame.”
In celebration of #FlagshipFebruary and the one and only Not Quite Pale Ale, Magic Hat’s
Artifactory in South Burlington, VT will be offering pints of #9 for $5 all month long.
