From Monday Night Brewing:
ATLANTA, GA (August 13, 2018): Monday Night Brewing’s Garage program is set to release its newest project. After the success of the first Mischief Managed with raspberries, a wine barrel-fermented fruited Berliner Weisse, the Atlanta brewery turned to a classically Georgia ingredient for this next batch - peaches.
"This Berliner Weisse recipe lends itself so well to fruit, and we really like to play with the recipe,” said brewmaster Peter Kiley. “The first batch with raspberries worked well, so it made total sense to try this batch with fresh peaches. They’re in season right now, and we were able to find a local farmer to work with, which is amazing.”
Drew Echols, owner North Georgia’s Jaemor Farms came through. Monday Night’s brewing team added a whopping 75 pounds per barrel to Mischief Managed, and the result is a clean, refreshing sour ale perfect for summer.
"The raspberry version of Mischief Managed really came through on the nose and throughout the body,” said Kiley. “But the nature of peaches is a lot more subtle. So we kept some skins and bumped up the fruit content. The result is a really pleasant taste of the whole peach all the way through.”
The Mischief Managed series is about taking a base beer - in this case a wine barrel-fermented Berliner Weisse - and then doing something “mischievous” to it such as adding a fresh fruit. Because the base beer is so delicate, the “mischief” will always have to be “managed” to keep flavors balanced and under control. Mischief Managed Peach debuts at Monday Night Garage on Saturday, August 18. It will be available in Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama in bottles and on draft the following week.
The Garage, located in the historic West End of Atlanta, is home to Monday Night’s barrel aged and sour program.
