Ballast Point to Open Tasting Room and Kitchen in San Francisco

Ballast Point to Open Tasting Room and Kitchen in San FranciscoFrom Ballast Point:

San Francisco, August 10, 2018Ballast Point®, a pioneer in the craft beer industry for more than 20 years, announces it will open a tasting room and kitchen in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood in early 2019. The location will mark Ballast Point’s first in Northern California and eighth throughout the state when it opens.

“As a proud California brewery, we’re eager to make a more personal connection with our NorCal neighbors through our San Francisco tasting room and kitchen,” said Ben Dollard, president of Ballast Point. “The Bay Area community has enjoyed our high-quality beer for years, so opening a physical location is a natural extension of our presence here.”

The location will house a restaurant and on-site R&D brewery. In addition to Ballast Point’s iconic beers, including its flagship and award-winning Sculpin IPA, Grapefruit Sculpin, Fathom IPA and Bonito Blonde Ale, the location will serve exclusive beers that will only be available at the San Francisco location. Beer will also be available to go in bottles, cans and growlers.

The brewers at Ballast Point are foodies at heart. The restaurant’s menu will offer localized fare inspired by San Francisco as well as a taste of San Diego with some of Ballast Point’s most popular brewpub dishes, including Baja-style fish tacos and house-made pretzels with beer mustard. Similar to Ballast Point’s brewing philosophy, the kitchen will source the best possible ingredients, including line-caught fish, free-range chicken and hormone-free beef whenever possible. It will feature a seasonally inspired menu and include gluten-free and vegetarian options for guests.

“Ballast Point’s tasting rooms and kitchens provide an opportunity to create a brand experience and connect with consumers,” said Dollard. “Given the brand’s roots in San Diego, becoming part of the fabric of the local community is what built the Ballast Point brand years ago and we want to continue to introduce new people to Ballast Point in that same spirit.”

Since Ballast Point’s humble origin in the back of its Home Brew Mart in San Diego in 1996, the brewery has remained dedicated to the craft, supporting the art of home brewing and developing innovative, flavorful and award-winning beer. Ballast Point ensures it delivers high-quality beer at its tasting rooms – and across the country – by taking each of its brews through a system of 300-plus quality touchpoints from grain to glass.
