Surly #MERICA Cans Return

Surly #MERICA Cans ReturnFrom Surly:

#MERICA, Surly’s pre-Prohibition American lager, is back. Defined by flaked corn and soft hop aromatics, it’s an easy-drinking summer beer ideal for lawn mowing, hot dog preparation, and observing sunsets in the backyards, patios, and front stoops of the greater Upper Midwest.

We first brewed it in 2015 for the annual D4th of July Party put on by Minneapolis punk legends Dillinger 4. It’s only right that there will be cold cans of #MERICA! available at this year’s D4th of July Party, which moves from the late, lamented Triple Rock to Grumpy’s Downtown on Saturday, June 30th.

Lawn care, encased meats, and staring at the horizon aren’t the only experiences #MERICA! improves. This fake report from our sensory lab contains some results that left us all stunned and amazed. We share it with you now:

VISUAL:

  • An eagle soaring over a bowling alley with manual scoring.
  • Listening to a baseball game on AM radio in an unattached garage.
  • A Trans Am idling in the parking lot of a 24-hour convenience store. The driver’s name is Greg. He’s leaning against the driver’s side door. His shirt doesn’t have any sleeves. He has a strong opinion about the best Molly Hatchet record.
  • Light golden.

AROMA:

  • Tom Petty’s Full Moon Fever on cassette.
  • A movie with Steve McQueen in it.
  • Watching your neighbor injure himself with fireworks.
  • Mild fruit, herbal hop aromatics.

TASTE:

  • Freedom.
  • The open road.
  • Glory.
  • Subtle, fresh corn.

MOUTHFEEL:

  • Observing the height of various crops.
  • Complaining about humidity.
  • Fighting authority despite what are frankly long odds.
  • Light body, mouthwatering.

#MERICA! 12-packs are in stores now. Grab one or two, fill a cooler, and better appreciate the purple mountains majesty, the amber waves of grain, and whatnot.
