From Terrapin:
This April, Terrapin Beer Co is bringing back Cumulus Lupulus, an Imperial IPA inspired by the Northeast Style.
Clocking in at 8.1% ABV, this brew boasts over four pounds of Amarillo, Citra, Galaxy, and Mosaic hops per barrel. Three different hop editions in the whirlpool build a strong hop flavor, coupled with three different dry hop editions to strengthen the beer’s impressive hop presence. But this beer resembles a Northeast Style IPA in more than just hop flavor. We’re using a yeast strain that is used by brewers up in the Northeast, rather than our house strain.
A new piece of equipment is making this brew even better – Terrapin recently acquired a Hop Cannon. The Hop Cannon is a small but powerful piece of equipment that has allowed for a lot of experimentation. Our team is testing opportunities for earlier dry hopping, while the beer is still fermenting, in hopes that it will enhance hop flavors and aroma. It has also allowed for dosing without opening tanks, preventing oxygen from getting in to the beer, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality product.
Cumulus Lupulus will be available throughout Terrapin’s distribution network for a limited time starting mid-April, releasing at Terrapin’s 14th Anniversary Carnival on April 14th. (Tickets available at: www.terrapinbeer.com/anniversary-carnival)
