Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Hop Concept Dank & Sticky CansFrom the very beginning, I was excited to see The Lost Abbey / Port Brewing decide to start a line of hop-centric beers called The Hop Concept.  I think to date I’ve tasted most every beer in their lineup and I have especially enjoyed the Hop Freshener Series of releases…and while I do like their 22oz bottles, it always seemed to me that there was a better way to enjoy these beers.Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Hop Concept Dank & Sticky Cans

Enter our pal Tomme Arthur, and the exciting news that their new canning line would give them the ability to add cans to the Hop Concept lineup...and of course what better choice to launch Hop Concept cans with but 16oz Dank & Sticky.

Not only does a 16oz can solve the problem of trying to drink 22-ounces of an 8.5%-AbV by yourself, but it also clears the way to make Dank & Sticky portable.  I think 16-ounces is the perfect size and I really like the fact that ZERO light gets to the beer, the cans are much more durable and the 16oz cans are lighter to carry and quicker to chill.

I decided to sample Dank & Sticky in a glass, but also straight out of the can.  The beer pours a rich copper/amber color with lots of resinous piney aromas up front and a burst of grapefruit citrus at the end.  D&S has a wealth of great flavors from bright citrus, to pleasantly grassy; and of course it has a resinous dank piney finish.  The balance of hop flavors in this beer is really well done and we really enjoyed that subtle touch of stone fruit as the beer warmed a bit.

While we did lose some of the aromas, the experience of drinking Dank & Sticky straight from the can did little to minimize the flavors and complexity of the beer.  The only drawback we found drinking from the can is just how easy it was to drink this beer….so be careful…this 8.5%-AbV beer is very drinkable.Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Hop Concept Dank & Sticky Cans

Hop Concept Dank & Sticky is brewed with Eureka, Mosaic, Cascade, Comet, Simcoe and Chinook hops and it is available now throughout the Port Brewing / Lost Abbey / The Hop Concept distribution network in 4-packs of 16oz cans and limited 22oz bottles and draft.  Be sure to try this beer in the new 16oz cans and be sure to let the Hop Concept know we look forward to more of their beers finding their way into cans.

As always, when you do try this beer, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
