William K. Busch Brewing Co. Wins Bronze, Named Missouri Lager Brewer of the Year at the New York International Beer Competition

William K. Busch Brewing Co. Wins Bronze, Named Missouri Lager Brewer of the Year at the New York International Beer CompetitionFrom William K. Busch Brewing:

ST. LOUIS, MO, March 08, 2018 -  William K. Busch Brewing Co. took part in the 7th Annual New York International Beer Competition (NYIBC) on February 11, winning a bronze medal in the American Style Premium Lager category for its Kraftig brand. The brewery also received an individual state award as the Missouri Lager Brewery of the Year.

Kraftig Lagers were among over 600 beers submitted to this year's competition, with a total of 14 countries represented across 50 categories. A trade-buyer-only panel judged the beers based on both category and actual price.

"We're proud to receive recognition from major beer competitions like the New York International because it serves as a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of our beers," said William K. "Billy" Busch, president and CEO of the St. Louis-based company that bears his name. "There are hundreds of breweries in Missouri, so being named the top lager brewery in the state is a true honor for us."

Kraftig's bronze medal marks the 34th medal won by Kraftig and Kraftig Light over the past six years. Last year's NYIBC saw Kraftig Light winning a silver medal in the Lager Beer Styles--North American Origin category and the brewery being named the Missouri Brewery of the Year.

"Brewers work hard to make beers that they think people will enjoy. Winning a medal from a prestigious competition is second only to having a customer tell you they like your product," said Marc Gottfried, Brewmaster at the William K. Busch Brewing Company. "We are fortunate to have had our hard work rewarded by both a strong customer following and being recognized at the New York International Beer Competition."

William K. Busch Brewing Co. looks forward to competing in future beer competitions this season, but for now, Busch feels nothing but pride after the recognition.

"Talk about proud: proud of our beers, proud of our Brewmaster, Marc Gottfried, and proud of my family for continuing the Busch brewing legacy," Busch said. "I think my father would be proud of the work we're doing."
