Ground Breaker Brewing and Colorado Craft Distributors have partnered to bring award-winning gluten-free craft beer to the Centennial State. Ground Breaker beers are beginning to make their ways to stores across Colorado. Ground Breaker’s year-round and seasonal lineups will be available, including many Great American Beer Festival winners from the Gluten-Free Beer category like IPA No. 5, the 2015 Silver Medal winner, 2012 Bronze Medal winner Pale Ale, and the three-time Gold Medal winner Dark Ale (2014, 2016, & 2017).
Six years in, the GABF medals have piled up, the name has changed, and the brewery has checked another goal off its list. Distributing highly decorated beers in the city and state that has treated them well has been a long-held goal for the brewery. When founder James Neumeister celebrated the opening of the Portland, Oregon brewery in 2011 (then called Harvester Brewing), the first 100% dedicated gluten-free brewery in the western United States, he was already thinking of higher places. “Colorado was always on my mind, we’ve wanted to distribute there since we opened,” said the founder. And not just because of the long-held festival.
Consistently topping the list of States with the highest number of breweries per capita, Colorado is one of the craftiest of craft beer states. “Breweries in Colorado have been producing some amazing beers for awhile now, the people in the industry are welcoming, the consumers are welcoming,” said Neumeister. “We’re very happy to see our beer in the Colorado for people to enjoy, not just to bring back the hardware.”
It did take patience on Neumeister’s part to find a good distribution partnership. “It can be difficult, you know, you win some medals and you just want to get into a state like Colorado as quickly as possible,” said the founder. But over the years, Neumeister learned the value of finding distributors that are the right fit. “I was introduced to Tom Jasko by the manager of Fresh Craft this last year and I knew right away that Colorado Craft Distributors would be a good fit,” said Neumeister. “Tom understands our market, he understands gluten-free beer and the gluten-free consumer. We couldn’t be happier to be working with CCD.”
