From Boulevard:
February 2018 brings yet another rotation to our Sample Twelve pack featuring two year-round beers and two brand new beers from our Tasting Room. Created to allow our brewers the chance to experiment with new styles, recipes, ingredients and processes, the line of Tasting Room beers also gives Boulevard fans the chance to try beers that were previously only available in our Tasting Room or Beer Hall. Joining year-round favorites Pale Ale and Single-Wide IPA will be Tasting Room 80 Shilling and Dry-Hopped Helles.
Our take on a classic Scottish style, 80 Shilling falls near the middle of a family beers typically categorized using the “shilling system.” Light chestnut in color, Tasting Room – 80 Shilling opens with toasty/biscuity malt aromas provided by Simpson’s Maris Otter and Crystal Light layered with Dingeman’s Amber 50. Flavors of the same present in a light to medium bodied beer with subtle, lingering malt sweetness punctuated by just enough bitterness from Magnum hops. European malt and Scottish yeast take center stage in this super sessionable ale.

First brewed in May of 2016 and tweaked for Beer Hall service again in September of 2017, Tasting Room – Dry-Hopped Helles leaves the brewery for the first time after garnering tons of fans and becoming an end of day favorite for Boulevardians. A fairly traditional interpretation of a German-style Helles (literally translated: pale in color), European pilsner and Munich malt combine with Hallertau Blanc (bittering), Saaz (flavor/aroma) and Mandarina Bavaria(flavor/aroma & dry-hopping) to create an incredibly soft, light bodied pale lager that boasts flavors of sweet, honey-like malt balanced by herbal, spicy, fruity hop notes suggestive of subtle citrus and tangerine. Quite dry, Tasting Room – Dry-Hopped Helles begs for another sip and proves difficult to set down.
Alcohol by Volume – 5.6%
IBUs – 35

Tasting Room – 80 Shilling and Dry-Hopped Helles will be available exclusively in our Sample Twelve pack and on draft in the Beer Hall in our Tours & Rec Center. A few kegs might make it out for special events and festivals, but you should not expect to see these beers as a regular draft in bars and restaurants.
