From Portland Cider:
CLACKAMAS, OR . – January 16, 2018 – Remember being a kid and drinking juice boxes with lunch and snacks? Whether it was Hi-C, Juicy Juice, Minute Maid, or Capri Sun, grape was always one of the go-to flavors. Today, Portland Cider Company is pleased to announce the release of Concord Grape as a new addition to its lineup of seasonal ciders. The deliciously tart blend of 100 percent Northwest apple cider and fresh pressed NW Concord grapes is reminiscent of your favorite childhood grape juice box – only without the straw!
Concord Grape is the result of a collaboration cider made with Waz Wu, chapter director of Veganizer Portland, for the Willamette Week Beer & Cider Pro-Am in October 2017. The collaboration cider, which featured grape juice crushed in a grape stomp by Portland Cider Co. owner Jeff Parrish and Wu, took home the People’s Choice award at the event.
“The response for this cider was so overwhelmingly positive at the festival and back at our taprooms, we knew we had to tweak the recipe to put it in a bottle,” explained Parrish. “The newly released batch didn’t involve any grape stomping, however; just freshly pressed Concord grape juice blended directly with our Northwest apple cider to make an incredibly delicious and tart treat.”
A stunning jewel purple color, Portland Cider Co.’s Concord Grape cider is described as very juicy with a strong grape juice nose and semi-sweet finish. It pairs well with a simple white cheddar grilled cheese, kale salad with Goddess dressing, and grilled chicken breast with slightly spicy seasoning.
Portland Cider Co.’s Concord Grape is available now through April in 22 oz. bottles and draft kegs. It can be purchased at either of the company’s two taprooms, as well as at select retailers in Oregon, Washington, and Colorado. Visit Portlandcider.com/concord-grape for more information.
