The nation’s largest mobile cannery now offers contiguous coverage from Maine to Florida, thanks to its latest acquisition. Iron Heart Canning Company LLC, a mobile beverage packager serving breweries, cideries, wineries, and small-batch coffee roasters, announced today that it has acquired River City Cannery, a mobile canning business operating out of Philadelphia and Baltimore.
Like Iron Heart Canning, River City Cannery launched as a small mom-and-pop business just as the canned-beer craze was taking off. Both companies are trailblazers in quality mobile canning, offering cost-effective solutions for small-quantity packaging, which has in turn, helped craft beer knock down market barriers in an industry long dominated by the likes of Budweiser and Coors.
“Access to on-site, pay-as-you-go production canning has been a game-changer for breweries,” Wille said. “But then factor in Iron Heart’s additional offerings, such as dissolved oxygen testing, advanced seam testing, in-line labeling, and pay-as-you-go printed can warehousing; and the mobile-canning option quickly becomes more attractive than owning an in-house line.”
“We’ve been friendly competitors and industry allies since River City launched in early 2014,” said Tyler Wille, founder and CEO of Iron Heart Canning. “Iron Heart is quickly defining itself as the industry center of canning expertise. Consolidating our resources with River City creates the opportunity to develop an even better canning service for the region’s craft brewers. It’s a chance to learn from each other and really hone our procedures and best practices.”
With the acquisition of River City Cannery, Iron Heart Canning now operates a total of 34 canning lines across 17 locations, providing high-quality packaging services throughout New England, the Mid-Atlantic, Ohio, and the Southeast.
