Happy New Year! Hope it's off to a great start, and it's about to get even better. We’re incredibly excited to unveil our 2018 Release Calendar, which includes longtime favorites, new beers and new additions—including new 16oz cans.
Starting this year, we’re introducing our beer selection as three distinct series: The Discovery Series, The Flagship Series, and the Explorer Series. It’s an easy way to distinguish our wide portfolio of beers and find exactly what you’re looking for.
- The beers in our Discovery Series serve as a great way to “discover” Ballast Point though their approachability and exceptional quality. They’re laid-back in style and drinkability, yet flavor-forward. We updated the package design for the The Discovery Series, enhancing the beer’s artwork, nautical theme and San Diego hometown pride. The Discovery Series beers are also 6% ABV or below.
- The Flagship Series are our signature beers like Sculpin, Manta Ray, and Victory at Sea—pinnacles of their styles and premium award-winners. They also carry higher ABVs, 7% and above.
- Our Explorer Series is for the adventurer in search of bold, exotic flavors and styles, like barrel-aged and sour offerings. These are limited releases that vary in ABV and style.
- With Aloha Sculpin, we used Brux Trois yeast to turn our award-winning IPA into a tropical oasis, with bright and refreshing notes of mango, pineapple and guava, along with a slight haze and smooth mouthfeel. This will launch in February and will be a seasonal spring/summer release in our Flagship series.
- Moscow Mule Ale is our take on the classic & refreshing cocktail, with ginger and tart lime in a light kettle sour beer. It's an effervescent and aromatic beer just begging to be enjoyed in a copper mug. This is a spring/early summer release in our Explorer series.
You'll also be able to enjoy more of our beers in cans, including a rotating can 6-pack in our Discovery Series (Tart Peach Kolsch, Grunion Pale Ale, and Piper Down Scottish Ale), Unfiltered Sculpin IPA and Manta Ray DIPA in 12oz cans, as well as Sculpin IPA and Fathom IPA in 16oz cans—giving you more places to enjoy the beers, more places to buy them, and more beer!
And yes, you may have noticed that some of our year-round beers are moving to seasonal only (Grunion, Watermelon Dorado) or draft only (Pumpkin Down, California Amber, Big Eye) to help make room for our new packaged offerings.
