Yazoo & Musician Elizabeth Cook Collaborate On El Lagarto Ale

Yazoo & Musician Elizabeth Cook Collaborate On El Lagarto AleFrom Yazoo:

In conjunction with Mayor Barry’s proclamation of the inaugural “Heal the Music Day” on Oct 20th, Yazoo Brewing and noted Americana musician Elizabeth Cook have teamed up to create a special beer to benefit the Music Health Alliance, a local non-profit that connects musicians in need, by providing access to healthcare through services that protect, direct, and connect music professionals with medical and financial solutions.

“El Lagarto” is an unfiltered wheat beer spiced with Everglades herbs, inspired by Elizabeth’s central Florida home. Fifty percent of the revenues from the sale of the beer will be donated to the Music Health Alliance to help local musicians with their health care needs.

As part of her announcement of Oct 20th as “Heal the Music Day”, Mayor Barry noted that over 56,000 people work in the music industry in Nashville, and approximately 76% of them are self-employed or part of a small business without access to group health benefits.  The Music Health Alliance is the first non-profit organization to merge Nashville’s two leading industries, healthcare and music.  Its free services connect the music industry with access to doctors, medicine, health insurance, and financial assistance in times of need.

Tatum Hauck Allsep, the founder and CEO of Music Health Alliance, was excited to hear about the benefit beer. “All of our services are free to music industry professionals and their families, and it’s opportunities like this that make it possible!  For every $1 donated, we can provide $30 in healthcare resources to Heal The Music!”  Elizabeth Cook added, “This is very important to me personally, as well as to so many of the folks that I work with that are my family.”

“El Lagarto” is being kegged and bottled fresh this week, and will be hitting the market immediately after.  The launch party will be at Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge in Madison for “Elizabeth Cook’s Yazoo Outlaw Chili Cook Off”, starting at 4 PM on Saturday, Oct 21st.  Elizabeth Cook and the Yazoo team will be on hand, “taste-testing” and bragging.   For more information, visit http://deeslounge.com/.
