From WeldWerks Brewing in Greely, CO:
We are finally ready to share some info about the upcoming Medianoche bottle release. But for the full details and latest updates, be sure to RSVP on the Medianoche & Medianoche Reserve Bottle Release event page.
Now for the details. We are releasing two different versions this time, both packaged in 22 oz bottles-- regular Medianoche and Medianoche Reserve (check the event page for the full scoop on the beers). This will be a ticketed release and bottles must be picked up in person at the brewery from Wednesday, October 4th through Sunday, October 8th during taproom hours. Tickets are $92 each (plus sales tax and fees) and include (2) two 22 oz bottles of Medianoche, (1) one bottle of Medianoche Reserve, and 1 WeldWerks customized bottle carrier.
Attendees must be 21 or older and there is a strict limit of 1 ticket per person. The name on the ticket must match the name on the credit card used for purchase, which must also match the valid 21+ ID presented at the time of pick up. Tickets will be available for purchase exclusively through Eventbrite starting at 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 24 using the link below.
We will also have customized Medianoche glasses for sale, which ARE NOT INCLUDED with the ticket purchase but can be purchased separately in person in the taproom. Unfortunately, due to lower than anticipated yields, neither of these versions of Medianoche will be available on tap. However, we are working on a special batch of Medianoche to put on draft for that week, so stay tuned for more details.
In addition to the bottle release, we also plan to have five different beers available in 16 oz 4-packs for the first time, including Juicy Bits, DDH Juicy Bits, Extra Extra Juicy Bits, Fruity Bits Piña Colada, and Key Lime Pie Berliner. These beers will be available to-go starting at 11 am on Wednesday, October 4th. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more details soon.
We know many of you have been just as anxious for this Medianoche release as we are and we can't wait to share these delicious beers with you. Thank you for your incredible support and we look forward to seeing you during GABF week!
13 Oct 2017 UPDATE from WeldWerks Brewing:
The Vanilla Medianoche bottle lottery opens at 10:00 am (Friday 10/13) today and will close at 10:00 pm tomorrow (Saturday). Be sure to read through the rules and details carefully before registering, as there are no exceptions to the policy we have outlined.
We know price will be the biggest controversy around this release, so we'll go ahead and get that detail out of the way: each 22 oz bottle of Vanilla Medianoche will cost $55, including all taxes, fees, and a $10 donation to the Weld Food Bank (more info on that below).
We understand this is an extremely high price to pay for a single bottle of beer and is likely well beyond the budget of many of our customers. If that is the case for you, we encourage you to skip this release. We brew a multitude of styles across a wide range of prices, so while we know that not every beer we produce will cater to our entire customer base, we take pride in the fact that we usually have something for everyone.
But our brewing philosophy has always been to produce the beers we want to make (and drink), regardless of cost, rather than producing beers that fit a specific price point. In this case, it meant adding incredibly expensive vanilla beans to an already costly beer, which is why the price for Vanilla Medianoche is so high. Could we have used less vanilla or aged the beer a shorter amount of time to produce a more affordable beer? Absolutely. But we do not believe we could have produced a beer of this quality, probably the best beer we have made, without the time and ingredients used in Vanilla Medianoche.
Additionally, we have heard a lot of comments recently regarding expectations for how we should accommodate our "local" customers. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing support we have received from our local Greeley community, but we know that our loyal customer base extends well beyond Greeley city limits. So we consider "locals" as anyone willing to invest in or support our community. That might mean spending money here at WeldWerks or at other local businesses, supporting initiatives that help the community, donating to local nonprofit organizations, or even just spending time in Greeley. Those who engage in our local Weld County (get it, "WeldWerks") community are the people that we consider local, regardless of where they live.
To that end, we have decided to donate $10 from every ticket for Vanilla Medianoche to the Weld Food Bank. In 2017, the Weld Food Bank donated nearly 14 million pounds of food to those in need and we are proud to support WFB to help them continue to serve our community. You can read more about WFB here: weldfoodbank.org.
