Boulevard Tasting Room Black Walnut Ale & Oat Pale Ale Coming To Sample Twelve

Boulevard Tasting Room Black Walnut Ale & Oat Pale Ale Coming To Sample TwelveExciting variety pack news coming from Boulevard Brewing:

Fall 2017 brings yet another rotation to our Sample Twelve pack featuring two year-round beers and two brand new beers from our Tasting Room. Created to allow our brewers the chance to experiment with new styles and recipes, the line of Tasting Room beers also gives Boulevard fans the chance to try beers that were previously only available in our Tasting Room or Beer Hall. Joining year-round favorites Bully! Porter and American Kolsch will be Tasting Room – Black Walnut Ale and Oat Pale Ale.

First brewed as a one-off test beer in early 2016, Black Walnut Ale features walnuts from Hammons Black Walnuts in Stockton, Missouri. 880 pounds of crushed walnuts are incorporated in the mash tun alongside a malt bill of our two-row base pale malt, caramel malts and a small, yet impactful percentage of beechwood-smoked malt. A touch of sea salt, also added during mashing, makes the black walnut character pop just a bit before giving way to a subtle malty sweetness balanced by a bittering addition of Hallertau Blanc hops at the beginning of the boil. Tasting Room – Black Walnut Ale is 5% ABV and 22 IBUs.

Brewed for hop lovers who also appreciate balance, Tasting Room – Oat Pale Ale is a round, smooth-bodied vehicle for Columbus, Equinox, Citra and Mosaic hops. An addition of rolled oats during mashing contributes to the base of Oat Pale Ale created with pale malt, Maris Otter, Amber 50 and Cara 120 malts. Quite dry, Tasting Room – Oat Pale Ale delivers tropical fruit, citrus and piney hop notes that transition to an herbal, lingering finish suggestive of berry and pine. Tasting Room – Oat Pale Ale is 5.1% ABV and 59 IBUs.

Tasting Room – Black Walnut Ale and Tasting Room – Oat Pale Ale will be available exclusively in our Sample Twelve pack and on draft in the Beer Hall in our Tours & Rec Center. A few kegs might make it out for special events and festivals, but you shouldn’t expect to see these beers as a regular draft in bars and restaurants.
