From Starr Hill:
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - (May 31, 2017) Starr Hill Brewery has remastered their Grateful Pale Ale with an enhanced recipe, available just in time for the summer festival season. The update to one of Starr Hill’s flagship brands showcases a fruitier hop aroma, more citrus hop flavor and a smoother, fuller body.
"One of our goals was to make Grateful more of an American Pale Ale, moving away from the Session IPA characteristics that focused more on hop side of the beer," says Robbie O'Cain, Brewmaster at Starr Hill Brewery. "This new recipe really brings everything into balance with more malt body to stand up to that large hop profile."
To remaster Grateful Pale Ale, Carafoam and Torrefied wheat were added to the malt bill for a fuller mouthfeel. A revamped hop bill features Cascade, Mosaic, Centennial and Falconer's Flight in the kettle and dry-hop, replacing Chinook, Topaz and Columbus.
The new hop varieties, in particular Mosaic and Centennial, bring out more fruit and citrus notes in the beer. The enhanced aroma and flavor are due in large part to the hop bursting technique utilized in other recent pale ale releases from Starr Hill, most notably Northern Lights IPA and Reviver Red IPA.
“Similar to when we refreshed the recipe for Northern Lights IPA, we didn’t want to throw out the soul of Grateful,” says O’Cain. “For Grateful fans out there, this is an enhanced, balanced version of this beer that’s perfect for the warm summer months ahead.”
Remastered Grateful Pale Ale is now available on draft, in 6-pack bottles, and cans throughout Starr Hill’s distribution area. To find where Grateful Pale Ale and other Starr Hill beers are in your area, visit www.StarrHill.com/Beer-Finder.
