Today we get to see Magic Hat Big Hundo return as part of the Humdinger Collection. If that’s not enough fun, it looks like this imperial IPA will be packaged in 16oz cans. Big Hundo swings in at 9%-AbV and 100 IBU and stay tuned here for release details.
UPDATE 19 Apr 2017 from Magic Hat:
The brewers at Magic Hat have had especially large smiles on their faces recently. They’ve spent the last couple weeks giddily adding piles of hops to Big Hundo, an Imperial IPA, one of Magic Hat’s Humdinger® Collection of beers. The name, Big Hundo, comes from the dumbfounding amount of hops used to brew the beer, resulting in 100 IBUs.
All Hail the Hop!
Tipping the scales at 100 IBUs, Big Hundo is bursting with citrus and pine notes. Dry-hopped with Centennial hops, it gives off a heady aroma and is accompanied by a flattering dark golden body. Magic Hat strongly recommends that Big Hundo be enjoyed as quickly as possible for the best hop flavor. Big Hundo will be made available in extremely limited quantities, in late-April with draught, 4-packs of bottles and 4-packs of 16-ounce cans.
A Humdinger with a Mission
Big Hundo is brewed to honor the University of Vermont Extension Hops Project, a Vermont- based team of researchers working to help Vermont farmers produce locally grown specialty hops. “Magic Hat’s support of the Hops Project will help a great deal in realizing our vision of hop cultivation returning to the Northeast, where it was once common in the 1800s, and where it has the potential to become a meaningful component of Vermont’s economy and local brewing supply chain,” said Heather Darby, Agronomist who leads the Hops Project.
Magic Hat will support the Hops Project with a donation and volunteer activity throughout 2017. For more information on the Hops Project, visit: go.uvm.edu/hops.
About the Humdinger® Collection
When chaotic chemistry, humble patience and blind faith converge under just the right conditions, a special kind of beer takes shape. The Humdingers are a collection of distinctive ales brewed for discriminating palates and generous spirits. Each bottle contains decades of collective brewing experience and is the result of much deliberation and imagination. Every Humdinger has its purpose and should be enjoyed whenever and wherever the spirit moves you.
