From Widmer:
Widmer Brothers Brewing is gearing up for winter with its classic seasonal, Brrr Hoppy Red Ale. Brrr is unique among winter warmers, with spicy hops and a trademark deep red color, rich body and hearty malt presence. First released as a N.W. Red Ale as part of the brewery’s experimental W Series in 2006, the beer quickly became a favorite, earning a spot in Widmer Brothers’ seasonal lineup less than a year later.
“As we head into winter, our brewers & beer drinkers start thinking about rich, complex beers that warm from within,” said co-founder Rob Widmer. “I know I look forward to Brrr’s arrival each year.”
As Director of Brewing Operations Doug Rehberg recalls, “Brrr is a beer that our brewing team wanted to drink during cooler months, influenced by the Northwest’s love of hoppy beers.” The result is a big, hoppy red ale that emphasizes aromatic and flavorful Simcoe and Cascade hops for a citrusy aroma that balances perfectly with the rich malt presence and that classic, deep red finish. Brrr is available in bottles as well as on draft at Widmer Brothers’ North Portland pub.
