From Sprecher:
Glendale, WI – Sprecher Brewing Company will begin its annual Whole Cone Hop Series with
an 80 barrel batch of Wisconsin Pale Lager, or WIPL, so named because it features 600 pounds
of just-off- the-bine fresh Wisconsin Cascade hop cones. In order to achieve maximum aromatics,
a Sprecher representative relayed the just harvested Cascade hops back to the brewery allowing
the fresh cones to be added to the brew within twenty-four hours of being picked. The beer was
aged several additional weeks before being kegged.
Fresh Wisconsin Cascade hops lend floral aromatics and green, grassy notes specific to the area
where they were grown, making WIPL distinctive from other fresh hop pale lagers. Every year
the flavor of WIPL is unique due to the quality of the hops, which depends on growing
conditions. This year the growing conditions were more favorable than 2015, resulting in a
remarkably delicious beer with compelling floral aromatics. WIPL has a crisp profile with
grassy, light floral and citrus notes. At 5% alcohol by volume (abv), this is a great session beer.
Expected release date: mid to late October. Due to the importance of maintaining fresh hop
character, WIPL will not be available in bottles, only kegs. Growler fills can be purchased at
Sprecher Brewery, 701 W. Glendale Ave, Glendale, WI
.
