From East End:
Lotsa hate out there for pumpkin beers this year. I suppose some of it is warranted. And the pumpkin-everything craze may have jumped the gourd last year. But we're still sticking to our firmly held ideals here, as we prepare to release this year's BigPour Brew... even if those ideals don't involve actual pumpkins.
In case you don't know the back story on our Nunkin Ale, here's the excerpt from our very first release of this beer that we did for the 2011 SteelCity BigPour.
So for this year's BigPour Brew, we've committed 100% of this year's Nunkin Ale to bourbon barrels for aging. (Yes, we started thinking about this beer 11-months ago!) And we're really VERY happy with what came out. The malt, the spice, the whiskey... they all play so nicely together, like a warm slice of pie after dinner with a glass of something strong to sip on.
BBA Nunkin, or "Drunken Nunkin" as we have come to call it here, will go on tap tomorrow at the BigPour, about halfway through each session. And of course for those of you not attending the fest, we'll also have it on tap at BOTH our locations on Saturday as well.
