From Saint Arnold:
HOUSTON, June 9, 2016 –Saint Arnold Brewing Co. (www.saintarnold.com), the oldest craft brewery in Texas, officially marks its 22nd anniversary today, and it will celebrate this weekend with two fun events:
Saint Arnold’s 22nd Anniversary Party: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, June 11th
The Saint Arnold 22nd Anniversary Party will feature the World Elevated Beer Pouring Championship. As the name of the event implies, teams will compete to see who can pour beer from a pitcher into a bucket the quickest. The twist is that the person holding the pitcher will be standing atop an elevated scissor list and their teammate will be holding the bucket on his head at ground level. The Saint Arnold 22nd Anniversary Party also features live music, beer, a commemorative 22nd anniversary glass and a selection of some of Houston’s best food trucks.
Saint Arnold 22nd Anniversary Special Rare Cellar Tasting: Two sessions: Noon to 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
It is not often that Saint Arnold opens its cellar and pulls out rare finds from its collection, but that’s what the Saint Arnold 22nd Anniversary Special Rare Cellar Tasting is all about. The two sessions will feature numerous beers that have never been released and some that have been aging for years, including Divine Reserves going back to 2008, and several beers from the Bishop’s Barrel Series, including one called “Virgin Monk,” which is Bishop’s Barrel No. 13 with cherries.
Tickets are available for both events. Visit http://www.saintarnold.com/news/ to learn more.
It was June 9, 1994 that Saint Arnold filled their first kegs with Amber Ale and trucked them to eight accounts. It took six test batches to achieve the desired balance between the complex hop aroma, rich malty body and floral hop finish. Amber Ale remains one of Saint Arnold’s top sellers.
“I am as proud of Amber Ale today as the first time we delivered it to an account, poured a pint from their tap and presented it to someone who had never tasted full flavored beer before,” said Saint Arnold Founder/Brewer Brock Wagner. “Saint Arnold beers and craft beer in general have gone way beyond anything I thought possible during our first decade.”
Saint Arnold’s production during its first year was 610 barrels. The brewery now produces more than 60,000 barrels of beer annually.
