From Kona:
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii (June 28, 2016) – Big waves are forecasted to quench thirsts from coast to
coast this summer when Kona Brewing Co. releases its awarding-winning Big Wave Golden Ale
in convenient, easy-to-carry 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.
Offered for the first time in portable 12-packs
nationwide, the legendary Hawaiian beach
and outdoors refresher can now be easily
transported across the U.S., to all of the
barbeques, camping trips, beach bashes and
potlucks beckoning this summer.
Big Wave Golden Ale (4.4% ABV, 21 IBU) is the
beer of choice for cooling down a summer
day. Low ABV makes it the perfect session
beer for epic days and hot nights. Lighter
bodied with a tropical hop aroma and flavor, it’s easy to drink for beer lovers of all stripes and
complex enough to please the most distinguishing craft beer connoisseur.
Big Wave goes great with all types of summertime fare from the barbecue to the white
tablecloth, and pairs especially well with seafood, poultry, salads and light pasta dishes. The
beer’s golden hue imbued by Caramel 20 and Pale 2 Row Premium malts and a special blend of
Millennium, Galaxy and Citra hops, make for a bright, quenching finish.
“We’re really excited to share the ‘Liquid Aloha’ lifestyle of slowing down & focusing on what
matters with even more people as they pick up a 12 pack of Big Wave in cans and head into
summer,” said Sandi Shriver, head of Kona Brewing Co.’s brewery operations. “Big Wave is an
all-time island favorite and really the perfect beer to unwind with after a day by the pool, at the
lake or at your favorite beach.”
Big Wave racked up big wins the past few years, bringing home multiple awards that include:
2016 Silver Medal, Blonde Ale, Best of Craft Beer Awards
2015 Gold Medal, Light/Golden Ale, Great International Beer and Cider Competition
2014 Gold Medal, Light Ale, North American Brewers Association
2013 Gold Medal, Session Ale, U.S. Open Beer Championships
