The Grand Rapids brewery's latest specialty beer, "Carmina Beerana," is an attempt to put a flavor to this music inspired by monks.

The beer is part of Brewery Vivant's collaboration with the Grand Rapids Symphony, which closes its 2015-16 season with a performance of Carl Orff's popular "Carmina Burana" on May 13-14 in DeVos Performance Hall.

The beer will debut Monday, May, 9, at the brewery, at 925 Cherry St SE, where the symphony's brass musicians and chorus singers will entertain customers at 8 p.m.

Carmina Beerana is described as a SMaSH beer, meaning it's a "single malt and single hop."
