We brought you a peek at this beer, back in Dec, and I knew when I saw the description that it was right up my pale-ale-alley.
I’ll admit up front that I love mango, peach and apricot pale ales, and it didn’t take long to figure out what fruit would be on board when I read the name….Camp Wannamango.
I was lucky enough to get a pre-release sample of this beer back in Jan and I really liked it back then, so it was even more exciting to get to see the real thing waiting for me at home today.
Harpoon Camp Wannamango is a pale ale brewed with mango and it is Harpoon’s first new summer seasonal release in 16 years. Just like the first time I sampled this beer, you can’t help notice that Camp Wannamango is loaded with mango flavor. Balanced with a nice bitterness and a clean finish, this beer will definitely become one of my summer favorites. It’s also one of the easiest drinking fruit pale ales I’ve tasted in a long time, and believe me I’ve tasted quite a few.
As if that’s not fun enough, this time Harpoon gave me a peek at the new 16oz cans of Camp Wannamango. Sometimes a package really makes the beer, and in this case I think I actually liked the beer even more in a 16oz can. Not only did I get to enjoy 4-ounces more than the 12oz bottle, but with a can, I was honestly able to picture sitting on the beach in August, sipping on a can of Camp Wannamango. This beer screams “summer” and in a 16oz can it yells just a little bit louder.
Harpoon Camp Wannamango will be packaged in 12oz bottles, 12oz cans and the mybeerbuzz.com recommended size, 16oz cans. The beer hits a very beach-sessionable 5%-AbV and a very satisfying 22 IBU.
Harpoon Camp Wannamango is available now so be sure to get out there and try it for yourself. An when you do, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
