BrewDog - Columbus OH Brewery Updates & New Bar Location

imageFrom BrewDog:

Three months have passed since we last caught up with the goings-on in the Discovery City! It’s high time to bring you up to speed on the biggest project in the history of BrewDog; the intention to take our beermaking over the Atlantic and open a 100,000 square foot production facility in Columbus Ohio. When complete, we will proudly brew BrewDog beers in the land that helped inspire the creation of our business. So how have things gone since that last update?

Well, things have moved on apace. Led by the epic Katie and our Keith, the project is going really well and our construction partners have been working tirelessly to ensure we are still on schedule to be completed in mid-July. Central Ohio has been revelling in Scottish conditions of late – Keith seems to have taken the weather with him – but the building process hasn't slowed any due to the heavy rain and recent freezing conditions (the guys have to chip ice off anything before they can use it at the moment!).

We have also now dialled in a fantastic partner to begin the manufacture of our USA brewery. The Bavarian engineering company Esau & Hueber are soon to begin work on our state-of-the-art 200HL brewhouse, which once shipped and installed is destined to supply the freshest BrewDog beer to the good people of the Buckeye State and beyond. However, we aren’t resting on our laurels; that isn’t the only brewkit we have on order.

In October we published a blog post on the hunt for a downtown Columbus location for a BrewDog bar – and it generated a huge amount of discussion. Thanks to Katie’s patience and determination in following up all of these leads, we’ve identified fantastic potential sites for BrewDog Columbus in East Franklinton. The exact location will be revealed soon – but rest assured it will not only be amazing, it will be a fully-fledged city-centre Brewpub!

Columbus has got a fantastic beer scene, and we can’t wait to play a part in this vibrancy. The people of the Midwest continue to be amazingly friendly, greeting our small team with handshakes and hugs wherever they go – not to mention offers of places to stay, home-cooked meals, and even (in Keith’s case) offers of marriage. We even met the mayor the other day! The people of Ohio have been nothing short of amazing – and we can’t wait to begin brewing for them.

In the meantime, stay tuned to the BrewDog blog for increasingly regular updates on the USA project – or you can dial up our recently-launched dedicated US website! Plus later this year we are further building our US community by giving our American fans the opportunity to invest in BrewDog USA Inc. (anybody who invests in Equity for Punks IV in Europe already owns a stake in BrewDog USA. Oh, and Equity Punks, check your email!)

Further details on the extension of our share offer to our friends in America will be released in due course – if you want to be the first to know, you can sign up for Equity for Punks USA updates here. America! We are well on track and cannot begin brewing in the Land of the Free soon enough…
