Saint Benjamin Brewing to Host 'State of Craft Beer' with Brooklyn Brewery

This October, local nanobrewery Saint Benjamin Brewing will host the Philadelphia leg of Brooklyn Brewery’s Brooklyn Mash. Co-owner and Brewer Christina Burris will participate in a live podcast recording with some of the top names in craft brewing, State of Craft Beer, examining the industry as it is today and as it is likely to grow in the future.  State of Craft Beer is just one of nearly a dozen great opportunities for fans and first-time drinkers alike to get to know Philadelphia’s most exciting new craft brewery, located in the burgeoning Kensington neighborhood:

  • On Thursday, October 22 beginning at 6 p.m., Saint Benjamin will host State of Craft Beer, the definitive discussion of the craft beer industry in the United States featuring national and local leaders
    • The live podcast recording will feature five luminaries of contemporary craft brewing:
      • Christina Burris, co-owner, brewer and operations manager of Saint Benjamin
      • Steve Hindy, chairman and co-founder of Brooklyn  Brewery
      • Sam Calagione, founder and president of Dogfish Head Brewery
      • Daniel LaBert, executive director of Brewers of Pennsylvania
      • John Holl, editor of All About Beer magazine
    • The podcast will be presented by James Beard Award-winning food website, First We Feast

    • Saint Benjamin, Brooklyn Brewery and Dogfish Head will all be pouring beers on a pay-as-you-go basis for the duration of the beer summit
    • The panel discussion will take place on the 2nd Floor of the Brewery, an old horse stable in the 1900s. The space will be used as a production facility for Saint Benjamin when they expand the brewery and add a brewpub in the near future
    • Philly Beer Week’s famed Hammer of Glory, aka the HOG, will be making an appearance and guests will be able to purchase tickets to PBW’s European Vacation, a chance to win a trip to brew their official collaboration beer in Amsterdam.
