Historic Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta’s oldest municipal burial ground, has once again partnered with Georgia’s oldest brewery, Red Brick Brewing, to create a specially crafted beer just in time for the Halloween season.

Available only at the sold out Capturing the Spirit of Oakland Halloween Tours, Laughing Skull Casket Amber Ale is a blend of Red Brick’s signature Laughing Skull brew and rum-soaked oak chips harvested from oak trees at Oakland Cemetery.

“Laughing Skull is one of Atlanta’s iconic brands and a perfect beer for the season,” said Red Brick’s brewmaster and president Garrett Lockhart. “Infusing it with native oak from Oakland’s gardens adds a unique dimension to the beer and ties it in to the terroir of the city, and our historic cemetery in particular.”

Earlier this month Oakland Cemetery created a signature beer with Red Brick for its Sunday in the Park fall festival. Rosemary’s Boneyard Brew, a blend of Red Brick Session IPA and rosemary harvested from Oakland’s gardens, was produced in limited casks that proved popular among the crowd.

“We had a tremendous response to Rosemary’s Boneyard Brew and found it fitting to serve something special in our tenth year of Capturing the Spirit of Oakland,” said Mary Woodlan, director of special events at Historic Oakland Foundation. “As a history-making brewery, Red Brick is the perfect partner for one of Atlanta’s treasured historic landmarks.”

Held Oct. 23-25 and Oct. 29-31, Capturing the Spirit of Oakland’s nighttime tours feature costumed actors recreating the lives of over half a dozen Oakland Cemetery residents, as well as musical performances, a pop-up shop, and readings from a fortune teller. These tours sell out quickly every year, and tickets go on sale July 1 toHistoric Oakland Foundation members, and to the general public on July 15.

Capturing the Spirit of Oakland is sponsored by Six Feet Under Pub & Fish House, Craft Creation & Design, Tin Lizzy’s Cantina, Paces Properties, Fulton Cotton Mill Lofts, H.M. Patterson & Son Spring Hill, Constellation Brands, Starr Hill Brewery, Doc Chey’s Noodle House, Republic Social House, and Mezcalitos Cocina & Tequila Bar.
