Portland & Milwaukie, OR - Breakside Brewery is pleased to announce three major staff changes and hires, including our first ever Chief Operations Officer Ray Veillet, new R & D brewer Will Jaquiss, and new Lead Brewer Nick Munson-Phelps. All three exemplify the standards set forth by Breakside in continuing to push creative boundaries, personal growth, and award winning beers. Breakside is excited to announce our new important players before heading off to this week's Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado, which will see our brewing team pouring beers from the convention center floor and attempting to follow-up our gold and silver medal wins in 2014.*

Breakside's new COO, Ray Veillet, joins Breakside after several decades spent as a lawyer and executive in the corporate world. Prior to joining Breakside he was VP of Operations for Siteworks Design Build and President of PicoJet Inc. He brings a wealth of accounting, legal, and finance experience to Breakside. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Oregon and a law degree (JD) from Willamette University.

"I was drawn to Breakside because of its unlimited growth potential. Its dedication to creativity and experimentation have already earned it a reputation as one of the best breweries in the state. I'm just excited to contribute to its future," said Veillet, commenting on why he was excited to join the company.

Will Jaquiss (cousin of Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Nigel Jaquiss) has been with Breakside for 2 years, where he has shown himself to be a passionate and integral part of the brewing team. Though young at only age 28, Will is a graduate of the prestigious Siebel Brewing Institute in Chicago and has been promoted to Breakside's Research and Development brewer. Jaquiss will handle brewing operations including scheduling and recipe development at Breakside's Dekum pub, as well as managing the barrel program and brewing on the 30bbl brewhouse in Milwaukie.

An exciting new addition to the Breakside brewing team came on board in late August with Nick Munson-Phelps. Munson-Phelps moved to Portland to brew beer. He started in the craft beverage industry at Clear Creek Distillery.  In 2009 he attended the Siebel/Doemens program and then began as a cellarman at Pyramid Brewery. In 2010, he became a brewer at Laurelwood, producing 4 GABF medal-winning beers. After spending the last several years as a sales guy for specialty chemical sanitation company Wesmar, he is excited to be returning to brewing. Munson-Phelps said, "I am so thrilled to work alongside such a talented team at my favorite brewery. I couldn't imagine a more perfect setting to create beers to be proud of. Looking forward to growth, creativity, and lots of fun."

Munson-Phelps will be joining the staff as Breakside's new Lead Brewer. The position calls for him to be responsible for a number of administrative aspects of raw materials procurement and wort production in addition to regular brewing duties.
