This weekend, River North Brewery will debut a new series of limited release bottles, Quandary Single Cask. Each edition of QSC will showcase one single-source barrel of a distinct type of spirit, wine or other unique concoction.
For the first in the series – Quandary Single Cask No. 1 – River North partnered with Davidson’s Liquors to craft a Belgian-style quadrupel aged in a specially selected Old Scout Straight Bourbon Whiskey barrel from Smooth Ambler Spirits.
“When a freshly emptied barrel of Smooth Ambler Old Scout showed up on our dock, River North was the brewery that came to mind immediately,” said Matt Bates, Purchasing Manager at Davidson’s. “Not only did they want to use the barrel, but by offering to make it a single cask beer, they took the concept to the next level. This is why we love having small business partners in the Colorado beer community like River North.”
QSC1 is even more limited than the brewery’s other barrel releases; thirty cases were filled by hand and naturally bottle conditioned. Bottles will only be available at Davidson’s on Saturday, August 29th starting at 1pm ($11.99 each, limit two).
From 1pm to 4pm, Davidson’s will co-host a tasting at the store with River North. In addition to QSC1, fans can sample both the bourbon that came from the barrel and classic Quandary, experiencing the evolution of the beer from start to finish.
The following day - Sunday August 30th - River North will pour QSC1 in the taproom starting at 1pm. With only a couple kegs, the brewery will likely run out quickly. No bottles will be sold at River North.
