From Troegs:
HERSHEY, PA – On Monday, July 13, Tröegs Brewing Co. will release Red Steam Common Ale. Tröegs brewed this
commemorative beer in collaboration with firefighters from Hershey Volunteer Fire Department as part of its Scratch
Beer Series of experimental, small-batch beers. The beer, a California Common, or “steam” beer, echoes back to the
very first Scratch Beer produced by Tröegs Brewery in 2007.
Tröegs has pledged $25,000 to the fire company’s capital campaign. While supplies last, Tröegs will sell
commemorative pint glasses through its General Store at the brewery, with a portion of proceeds being donated to
the Hershey Volunteer Fire Department. Additionally, Tröegs will donate $1 of every pint and growler of Red Steam
Common Ale sold at the brewery to the cause.
“Firefighters are such an integral part of our community,” said John Trogner, co-owner of Tröegs. “We wanted to do
something special to honor these men and women who volunteer their time to help keep us safe. This beer is for
them.”
Draft beer and pint glasses will be available for purchase when the brewery opens at 11 a.m. on July 13. Tröegs will
host a private event at the brewery for local firefighters and their families to celebrate the release of the beer.
The Hershey Volunteer Fire Company has been serving the needs of the community since 1905 and currently
responds to more than 700 calls per year. The Fire Company is raising $6.8 million dollars to fund its new station and
is hoping generous individuals and businesses will help raise the remaining $1.4 million needed. To learn more about
the capital campaign and how you can support the Fire Company, please visit www.HersheyFire.org.
