From Summit & Bent Paddle:
There'll be collaborations aplenty at the 2015 In Cahoots! Block Party hosted by Red Stag Supperclub and The Growler. This year Summit Brewing Company is paired with our friends Bent Paddle Brewing Company in Duluth, MN to craft a beer to pour together at In Cahoots! Seeing as how there has been a bit of debate in recent years as to whether the Craft Beer Capital of Minnesota is Duluth or Saint Paul - we decided to put the whole argument to bed by joining forces to brew the ultimate summer sipper - a dry-hopped Belgian Style Pale Ale we lovingly named "Proud Mayor."
Check out this video featuring Bent Paddle's Bryon Tonnis and Summit's Pete Stacy for an behind-the-scenes look at the "Proud Mayor" brew day.
And wouldn't you know it, one of the proud mayors themselves showed up during the collaboration brew! Duluth mayor Don Ness had a few kind words to say about the project.
A crew of Summit coworkers tasted the final product at Bent Paddle during All Pints North weekend in Duluth. They report that the beer succeeds as a sessionable summer sipper with citrus hop character all-around with grape or wine-like notes in the flavor, dry and crisp body, balanced acidity and bitterness.
Join us Sunday, August 2 from 2-8pm at Red Stag Supperclub in Northeast Minneapolis for the In Cahoots! Block Party. We'll be pouring Proud Mayor Belgian Style Pale Ale alongside four collaboration beers from other Minnesota and Wisconsin breweries. If Summit/Bent Paddle wins the Best of Show for the day, we'll be honored to donate the earnings to Second Harvest Heartland, a great food shelf organization that both breweries already work closely with in our respective cities. The event is FREE and open to all. Note: it is a hot asphalt event, so please leave your pets at home.
