Baltimore, Md. – In honor of the 20th anniversary celebration of Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. breaking Lou Gehrig’s record for the most consecutive games played (2,131), Heavy Seas Beer has created “Fielder’s Choice,” a limited edition American Premium Lager at 5% ABV. The commemorative brew will be available in select stores throughout the Baltimore-region next week, as well as in-stadium at Oriole Park and Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium the week of August 31st.With each case sold, Heavy Seas will make a donation to the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.

Heavy Seas Brewmaster, Christopher Leonard added, "Our ‘Fielder's Choice’ American Premium Lager is a commemorative brew we produced using traditional German brewing techniques and the finest ingredients. We started with high quality Canadian Pale Malt and German Dark Munich Malt. This combination provided a medium-bodied, clean malt backbone, with subtle notes of biscuit and fresh baked bread. We imported German Hallertau Mittlefrue and Czech Saaz hops to lend a soft, gentle, balanced flavor. This homage to the easy-drinking lagers of Baltimore's past is the perfect choice for celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of the finest accomplishments in professional sports."
In addition to the “Fielder’s Choice” brew, fans are encouraged to celebrate the 20th anniversary by using the hashtag #BaltimoresBest on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram along with a photo of themselves with their favorite Cal-related memorabilia, while responsibly enjoying their favorite Heavy Seas beverage. Entry remains open until September 30, at which time one Grand Prize winner will receive a Cal Ripken signed can of "Fielder's Choice" beer. Also, Heavy Seas will award tour passes to the best photo each week leading up to the end of the contest.
