Modern Times Releases Bourbon Barrel-Aged Coffee

imageFrom Modern Times:

Our gorgeous new 15-kilo Giesen coffee roaster is officially up & running, and we're absolutely loving life as a big boy coffee roasting company. We've wasted no time tackling a slew of exciting new projects, and as a result, we've got two really bomb-diggity new coffees available.

The
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Kenya Nyeri Kiambara AA is a stunner. It spent only 1 month in a hand-selected Four Roses barrel acquired from our friends at a certain highly regarded wine and spirits store with locations in L.A. and NorCal, but the short rest was plenty of time. This barrel was so fragrant and punchy, it managed to impart loads of barrel character to this coffee in no time. The oaky, bourbony goodness is a fascinating match with the bright, fruit-forward Kenya Nyeri, making it a truly mind-bending morning cup. Supplies are very limited.

Secret Beach is the first release in what will become a quarterly seasonal program featuring 4 unique, rotating blends. Secret Beach (being our summer blend) is focused on quenching, bright flavors ideally suited to cold brew (although it makes an outstanding French Press or pour over, too). It's composed of Ethiopia Sidamo Guji--lemony & floral with a muscular body--and Burundi Karehe--apricot & guava with a juicy finish; the combination of the two is super delicious & deceptively complex for a summer chugger.
