Victory Brewing - Yes We Can

From Victory:

Whether sipping suds on the beach, enjoying a cold one after a long mountain hike or soaking up the sun at an outdoor event, the convenience of cans is clear. We’re as excited as you are to take a cold can of Summer Love on the go. The durability, weight and size make them super portable and great for events where glass or bottles are not an option.

On March 17, while the rest of the country was enjoying a dry stout or drinking green beer, our canning line left Bergamo, Italy and began its journey to America. A few weeks later, on April 9, it arrived at our doorstep (read: brewery parking lot) in three 40-foot shipping containers, each weighing about 15,000 pounds. While these may have looked like ordinary, big ol’ boxes to the rest of the world, we knew what was awaiting us.

Our team of mechanics got to work right away, knowing the treat they would be able to enjoy once complete. While canning lines and bottling lines are very similar, the canning line is less automated and is a great training tool for brewers who are new to packaging. During the pre-beer tests, our whole team had a chance to get some hands-on experience with our shiny, new line. We started with water before moving on to beer. We checked the fill and oxygen levels and tested the microbiology before the all important, final taste test. After ensuring that the packaging materials had a proper seal and enjoy by date, we were ready to can. The entire process took about three weeks and we are now producing 150 cans per minute of our favorite summer beer, Summer Love Ale.

We think you’ll agree that summer is a great time to love cans!
