Baltimore, MD, May 5, 2015 -Union Craft Brewing Company today announced the release of its first seasonal can, the award winning German-style sour ale, Old Pro Gose. The beer was first introduced in 2012 as the breweries official summer seasonal beer and garnered a Silver medal at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. Old Pro is a low ABV, tart wheat beer, brewed with coriander and salt. The cans will be delivered to retailers today.
Co-Founder and Head Brewer Kevin Blodger comments, “I’ve been brewing Gose for a long time. Any sour beer can be challenging for the uninitiated to develop an appreciation for. You have to toss out your expectations of what beer should taste like. And the Gose style, which also has a distinct salt note, can be a bit shocking for some drinkers. But once you try it, you quickly realize that it is a very refreshing beer for a hot summer day.”
Jon Zerivitz, Co-Founder and Director of Marketing adds, “I have been waiting for this day since we opened our doors in 2012. Old Pro is one of my personal favorites and was destined for the can. The coriander brings adds this lemony zip. The salt drys it out and beckons you back for another sip. Its a great palate cleanser and pairs equally well with oysters as it does with rich and fatty dishes.”
In addition to the can release, UNION Craft has announced its plans for its 3rd Anniversary Celebration, which will take place at the brewery on Saturday, July 25th. The party will feature many rare drafts and cask beers, a food truck court, and music from local soul-men – Brooks Long & Mad Dog No Good and Bosley.
