We brought you news of this beer, and now this from the Rare Beer Club:
Lake Forest, CA - March 04, 2015
The Rare Beer Club®, one of the four U.S. and international monthly beer clubs offered by The Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club™, has partnered with the Sudwerk Brewing Company to exclusively release the Fünke Hop Farm dry-hopped sour saison as part of the March 2015 shipment.
“Sudwerk was one of the first breweries that we ever worked with nearly 20 years ago and we haven’t slotted them for years, so I’m quite nostalgic about this project. Located so close to UC Davis’ Master Brewing program most likely had a lot to do with why these guys were frontrunners in the industry, cranking out outstanding beers when the US craft brewing industry was in its infancy,” says Kris Calef, president and founder of The Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club. “I’m as excited about this exclusive project as I have been about any other we’ve done. Brett, Lacto, barrel-aged, blended, dry-hopped. What more could you want in a beer?”
Fünke Hop Farm, a unique beer that has only been brewed once before, is a 6.5% ABV dry-hopped sour saison crafted with oats and wheat, which are then fermented out with two strains of saison yeast. After spending six to nine months undergoing secondary fermentation in Petite Sirah, Grenache, and Chardonnay barrels with Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, and an in-house solera yeast culture, Fünke Hop Farm is then carefully blended with a barrel-aged, all-Brett beer and dry-hopped with a pound and a half of Simcoe, Nelson, and Citra hops per barrel.
Fünke Hop Farm will only be available to members of The Rare Beer Club. The beer is bottle conditioned and can be cellared for up to a year.
Sudwerk Brewing Company, located in Davis, Calif., has been producing award-winning craft beers since 1989. Though they specialize in German-style lagers, Sudwerk Brewing Company offers a range of seasonal beers and the popular West Coast Lager series.
