From Pelican:
Tillamook, OR - September 15, 2014
Since their Tillamook, Oregon facility opened in October of 2013 Pelican Brewing Company has addednearly 40 full-time employees to the area. Including most recently a Chief Executive Officer. At the beginning of August Pelican Brewing Co. announced that Jim Prinzing will become the company's new CEO. Co-Owner and founder Mary Jones said, "We're confident that Jim and his passion for beer will bring a high-level of leadership and executive skills that will prove integral to the company's future." Jim's immediate focus will be on long-term growth strategies and a comprehensive branding initiative. Jim has spent the past 20 years at Marie Callendar's, most recently overseeing over 45 restaurants and bakeries and will be starting his new role with Pelican Brewing in early September. "I'm thrilled about the opportunity to join such an amazing community of people. The possibility for what the Pelican brand can become, not only on the Oregon Coast but nationally and internationally is boundless."
Pelican's Brewery and Tap Room at First Street and Stillwell has been bustling with action since the day it opened.
With help from Tillamook Urban Renewal Agency, the City of Tillamook, and the Governor's Strategic Reserve Fund, Pelican was able to triple its brewing and bottling capacity and further realize its vision of bringing consumers a quality craft beer experience that is unique to the Oregon Coast. Tillamook Mayor Suzanne Weber commented, "We are very pleased with the continued and consistent progress of Pelican Brewing. It is a leading indicator of growth and vitality of the core of our community and has already greatly enhanced the variety of experiences one can enjoy in our small town." Nearly every day trucks can be seen using the Front Street docks to pick up fresh beer for delivery. Pelican Brewing sold over 4,200 barrels through July of this year, far surpassing the 2,400 they produced and sold in 2013 through the same time period. The success at home has also translated to success across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Pelican is now sending its world class beer to the rest of the world with international shipments going to countries like New Zealand, Japan, and likely soon to Australia.
The rapid growth the company has witnessed means that the brewery's original expansion less than a year ago is already nearing capacity. The new installation of fermentation and brite tanks will be delivered in the next few months and will give Pelican the ability to brew 4,300 more barrels of beer per year, amounting to a 50% increase over their current capacity. Recently Pelican Brewing Co. purchased additional property adjacent to their Stillwell location and will use that space for storage which will make room on the brewery floor as demand for production soars. Even on Friday and Saturday nights, the production floor at the Pelican Brewery in Tillamook is full of people. With no brewing activities on the weekends, the Tap Room has regular brewery tours and also opens the floor with tables and chairs for patrons to enjoy the atmosphere, food, and of course - beer.
