Beer giant Anheuser-Busch and the social media giant are testing online sales and gifting of Budweiser and Bud Light starting Tuesday in Chicago and Denver.
They are teaming up on two new programs, expected to eventually be rolled out nationwide next year: the Buds for Buds program lets you buy a friend a Budweiser, while the Bud Light Birthday promotion lets you earn a friend a free Bud Light on their birthday using Facebook posts.
Recipients redeem an online voucher at a bar or restaurant -- and show their ID to prove they are of drinking age. To get their gifted beer, they just click on the News Feed post. Those who want to gift a Bud enter their credit card information before sending a gift.
