Narragansett Names Their Adopted Shark “Quint”

From Narragansett:

In what came down to a be ‘Jaws’-worthy battle between Quint and Hooper, Narragansett Beer’s adopted shark has been officially named by Narragansett fans as “Quint.”

In conjunction with the re-release of the limited-edition 1975 ‘Jaws’ can, Narragansett partnered with the R.J. Dunlap Marine Conservation Program at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, to sponsor the adoption of a shark through the purchase of a satellite tag. Quint, a 9 foot Great Hammerhead shark, was tagged off the coast of Miami and can be tracked online through the use of satellite technology at NarragansettBeer.com.

‘Gansett fans named the adopted shark by submitting name suggestions through Narragansett’s social media channels using the hashtag #NameTheShark. Following that, fans voted for their favorite names each week on Narragansett’s Facebook page.

Through the end of August, all 12-, 18- and 30-packs of Narragansett Lager will be packaged in 12-ounce cans that replicate the 1975 can famously crushed by Robert Shaw—Captain Quint—in the shark-infested thriller. Quint lives on!
