Before you even think it, yes I KNOW it’s only July and I know we’re still drinking summer Shandy’, but when Traveler Beer offered me an opportunity to get an early taste of their 2014 Jack-O Traveler, I couldn’t resist. I brought you an early peek at this unique Shandy, so it was only fitting that I bring you an early taste.
Jack-O Traveler is the first-ever pumpkin Shandy and you too can sample it beginning August 1st. First launched in 2013, this Shandy sold out in lees than 2-weeks, so even though they brewed more for 2014, don’t delay in finding some for yourself.
Jack-O Travel uses real pumpkins and autumn spices, and you’ll find all that and more in the aroma. The color is deep & darker than I expected but the flavors are brite and spicy. Jack-O is medium bodied and refreshing, but hefty enough to stand up on a cool fall evening.
Jack-O Traveler uses 2-row barley and malted wheat along with Hallertau-Hallertau hops for a really nice balance of pumpkin, hop & spice. Look for this Shandy to come in at 7 IBU and an easy drinking 4.4% ABV.
Be sure to track this unique Shandy down for yourself (in bottles and on draft) and be sure to let me know what you think.
