Congratulations to our WILK Friday Beer Buzz 'Home Brew Contest' winners who suggested the concept and nature of the beers that ultimately were brewed.
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations also in order to the Wyoming Valley Homebrewers Club and especially Matt McDonough, Dan Schreffler, Steve Nagley, and Chuck Yarmey who brewed the beers. They were really good! Talented brewers, all!
Thanks too, to Bill from MyBeerBuzz.com and thanks to you for listening every week!
Best,
John

The mark of a fun show is how fast 15 mins flys by.....and today went REALLY fast. Thanks to all of the recipe sumbitters and to everyone at the Wyoming Valley Homebrewers.....I know how hard these guys worked on these beers and it really paid off in the end.
ReplyDeleteMy mouth was watering after the show. I'd love to try the Almond Joy and Blood Red Saison.

Hi Beer buzz. I didn;t realize you can make something other than a light beer with home brewing. I really like a good stout but I thought that took special equipment to brew. Am I wrong on this? Jenna
ReplyDeleteHi Jenna. Yes you can brew a Stout at home and no you don't need any special equipment beyond the normal homebrewing equipment.
ReplyDeleteThe beer sounded really good. I did submit 3 different ideas in the contest but I think the winners sounded better than mine. Cheers to the winners. Jake K
ReplyDeleteThanks Bil, Nancy and John for once again allowing us to appear on the show. The Friday BeerBuzz has helped spread the word on homebrewing for years and we have seen the club grow thanks to your help.
ReplyDeleteA special thanks to all the brewers who made beers for the contest. It was tough to choose just 3.
Once again we wanted to show people you can make quality beers that rival any brewed commercially for a fraction of the cost.
And regarding Jenna's question above, I promise you can brew a stout much easier than you can brew a light beer. And darker beers are much more forgiving of water quality and fermentation temperatures than light beers.
Feel free to contact the club with any questions.
Thanks
I think it sounds like a fun hobby. I think you all just gave me a great birthday gift idea. Are there simple starter packages? Mark
ReplyDeleteMark....Yes there are all levels of starter kits available locally and on-line. I'd recommend you attend one of the club meetings and I'm sure someone can give you advice on how/where to start.
