New Belgium Breaks Ground On New Asheville, NC Brewery

With a celebratory toast of beer, the region's craft beer community welcomed another major player Thursday at the groundbreaking of a $175 million New Belgium brewery along the French Broad River. 

A big turnout gathered at the old Asheville Stockyards on Craven Street in West Asheville, where the 133,000-square foot brewery will be built. A building shell should be up by the end of 2014, and the brewery will be operational in late 2015, said Jay Richardson, the brewery general manager.
