Picture this - It’s June 8th and Beer Week is calling a truce until next year. You’ve been juicing-up on nutritious, unfiltered libations for an entire week. Put all that Vitamin B to good use, and run for it! Then, stop running, have a beer, and enjoy great music outdoors, all part of our annual beer-run/free music fest one-two punch.
The Scavenger Run
$25 gets you:
- Participation in our custom-created scavenger run
- 1 beer ticket
- 1 t-shirt (we're not saying it's going to be our original iconic teal, not done the early 90's.... but it might be.)
The run's trajectory (tentative): A 3-4 mile scenic-adventure run through University City/ West Philly. The official course will be announced during Philly Beer Week and emailed to participants. The course will consist of 4-5 stops. Runners will be given a token at each stop. First runner back to Dock Street wins! Prizes for 1st and 2nd place in Male/Female/Overall.
Note: this is a fun run and not officially timed. Streets are not closed, so runners are advised to keep safety at the forefront. Like other scavenger runs, runners are on their own and free to plan their favorite route for the course. The Music Fest
Immediately following the run (or during it, if you’re slow), we’ll have some of West Philly’s best bands on stage outdoors for a free music fest with beer on tap and pizza slices in the oven inside. Expect a potpourri of Eastern European folk, jazz, orchestra pop, hip-hop and soul. Hey, we like to keep it interesting! Note: the music fest is open to any and all, not just runners!
Many famed local bands have played at the festival in past years including Hoots and Hellmouth, Skeletonbreath, Bardo Pond, Extraordinaires, Norwegian Arms, TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb and Stinking Lizaveta.
This year West Philly gets great representation from Grandchildren, West Philadelphia Orchestra and Gliss.
