World’s First “Craft” Non-Alcoholic IPA Coming To 12oz Cans

NAIPA3I’m excited to be the first to break some interesting beer news.  You’ve all heard of a Triple IPA (TIPA), Double or Imperial IPA (DIPA, IIPA), the regular old IPA and even the new Session IPAs (SIPA) hitting the markets…but what about this.

An east coast craft brewery will be releasing a new beer in a style they believe to be the world’s first.  This new brew will take the Session IPA craze to another level as this beer drops the ABV low enough to be considered a Craft Non-Alcoholic IPA.  The beer will carry the name “0.0% NAIPA”, and I’ve blocked the label and brewery name at the brewery’s request.

0.0% NAIPA will be packaged in 12oz cans and use 6 different hops (Simcoe, Nugget, Warrior, Tomahawk, Citra, and a new never-before-used variety named DH746).  The brewer tells me the nose is loaded with dry citrus aromas, the body and finish are that of a normal IPA, but the ABV is below the required .5% to be able to carry the Non-Alcoholic nomenclature.

The packaging for 0.0% NAIPA has ben ordered and the brewery tells me they are looking at an early May 2014 release so stay tuned.  Not to give too much away, but this beer will reach most of the east coast including PA, and most of the mid-west, west-coast and north-west markets in their footprint.  As a bonus, I should have a sample of this beer in about a week or two so stay tuned.
