No details just yet, but Terrapin Beer posted up this photo showing our pal Spike Buckowski at Quest Brewing to begin their co-brew today.

UPDATE 18 Mar 2014 from Quest:

GREENVILLE, SC—(March 11, 2014): Quest Brewing Co. has brewed a collaboration beer with Athens-based brewery Terrapin Beer Company on Tuesday, March 11th. The collaboration is an oatmeal brown ale brewed with blueberries called “Tolba”

Tolba is the name of a turtle in Native American legend said to be responsible for the creation of the earth.  This collaboration beer is inspired by the longtime friendship between the two brewmasters, Don Richardson and Spike Buckowski.  Profits from the sale of this collaboration beer will go to the Upstate Chapter of The Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA).

“It is no coincidence our first collaboration is with Terrapin,” said Don Richardson, Quest’s Founder and Brew Master. “Spike and I have been friends for years and they were kind enough to help us get our start here at Quest.  When I worked there i made numerous friends and love the culture they have created.”

“Don and I have been in the industry and have known each other since the 90′s, it’s about time we finally got together for a collaboration” says Brewmaster Spike Buckowski, who often travels to breweries across the country and abroad to work with other respected craft brewers.

Tolba will be a medium-bodied brown ale weighing in around 7% alcohol by volume.  20 barrels of Tolba will be brewed, and it will be available in draft only (1/6 and 1/2 barrel kegs) with a release date of April 3rd at Quest Brewing Co.

“Tolba brings together two breweries that have an immense respect for one another.  The people of Terrapin Beer Co. are not only our colleagues in the craft beer community, they are people we are proud to call friends,” says Andrew Watts, Quest’s CEO.

The Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) is the largest nonprofit mountain biking organization in the Southeast. Their members work with land managers in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee to create trails and trail systems for mountain bikers and other users to enjoy. Through advocacy, education, and recreational opportunities, SORBA carries out its mission to promote land access, trail preservation, and new trail development in order to enhance mountain bike touring, racing, fun, and fellowship for all mountain bicyclists in the southeastern United States.
