We brought you the first look at this beer, and now more from Ska Brewing
Ska Brewing
is announcing the spring release in its Seasonal Stout series: Vernal Minthe Stout, a stout brewed with peppermint, spearmint, cocoa and vanilla beans. The beer will hit shelves on March 20th, the date of the spring equinox.
Vernal Minthe Stout, which Ska debuted in March of 2013, has already won a Silver Medal at the European Beer Star Awards.
“We started out 18 years ago brewing ales that honored their European roots,” said Dave Thibodeau, Ska President and Co-Founder. “American craft beer has come a very long way since then, and it’s amazing to me that we can take our crazy beers back to Europe now and win a medal in the Beer Star Awards—one of the most important and recognized beer competitions in the world.”
Vernal Minthe Stout is a unique and rewarding treat. Sweet, with refreshing peppermint and spearmint throughout, but with dark roasted and milk chocolate notes for balance. The medium body of the stout allows the mint to shine through. Some have called it an Andes Mint in stout form; there’s no doubt it’s a great dessert beer. Vernal Minthe Stout is 5.8% ABV and 41 SRM.
Vernal Minthe Stout will hit shelves in all of Ska’s U.S. markets around the spring equinox, in keeping with the Seasonal Stout Series’ solstice and equinox release dates. The packaging (artwork below) features a black, 12-oz. can, with Ska’s True Blonde heroine as the Greek goddess Persephone, who, according to Greek mythology, turned the naiad Minthe into a mint plant in a jealous rage.
