2014 Look Ahead for New Belgium Brewing

Asheville
In early May New Belgium will break ground on its Asheville brewery, with an expected opening in late 2015. [Editor’s Note:  The official date appears to be May 2nd 2014] The brewery will ultimately produce 500,000 barrels of beer per year. New Beers (dates are approximate)

In 2014 New Belgium will introduce many new seasonal and limited release beers. Below is a breakdown of what to expect this year; additional details will come out as launch dates get closer.
·      New Year-Round Beer (bringing total to 10 year-round offerings) - Snapshot Wheat, an unfiltered wheat beer, debuted January 27.

o   RyePA – Collaboration with Riverbend Malt House – out now

New Packaging

New Markets
New Belgium will add HI and KY in May of this year bringing its total distribution footprint to 39 states, the District of Columbia and two Canadian provinces (BC and Alberta). Alabama opened up in late January and New Belgium entered Mississippi in March.


Events
·      Clips Beer & Film Tour will travel to 21 cities from May to October. New Belgium is now accepting film submissions at - http://www.newbelgium.com/Events/clips-beer-and-film.aspx. In 2013, the tour raised $158,243.
·      Tour de Fat will travel to ten cities from May to October. To see a video from last year’s tour and the schedule for 2014, visit - http://www.newbelgium.com/events/tour-de-fat.aspx. In 2013, the tour raised $535,924.
·      Scavenge Hunt is a scavenger hunt series where scavenging, costumes, skis and snowboards all come together on the slopes to raise money for local non-profits. Snapshot Campaign:
With the year-round release of Snapshot Wheat, New Belgium takes to the road this March with a Rollin’ Mills (think Olen Mills) traveling picture-taking tour across the U.S. Look for the Snapshot Van at your favorite beer-buying joint, hop in the back and add your image to the collection. All photos will be compiled into online digital art and street murals around the country.
