Chuckanut Collaborates with Ed Bates of Rebellion Brewery in UK

In the last few months Chuckanut Brewery has had major success connecting with craft brew specialists across the world. This time it is Ed Bates from our brother brewery in Marlow Bottom, UK (outside London) who will visit with our brewmaster Will Kemper and brewers to create a collaboration beer in Bellingham! Rebellion Brewery much like Chuckanut prides itself on consistent excellence in beer and has earned prestigious awards and the respect of its customers to back them up. Ed will be visiting Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen March 15-22 to join in brewery activities and see more of the Northwest.

For years the strategy of Chuckanut Brewery has been to focus attention on continually developing the range of beers produced, as well as working tirelessly to ensure their loyal customers can always enjoy Chuckanut beers in the best possible condition. Thankfully Rebellion Brewery shares this same strategy and Chuckanut is honored to be associated with such a successful brewery located across the globe! Owners Mari and Will Kemper met Rebellion brewmaster and owner Mark Gloyens when they were brewing in Istanbul, Turkey in 2005 and have stayed friends since.

Rebellion started brewing in 1993 in a small industrial unit in Marlow Bottom. Over the years Rebellion has expanded the brewery several times and now occupies several buildings, where they produce approximately 70,000 pints per week! Most of the beer produced at Rebellion Brewery is traditional cask conditioned ale. Known specifically for their IPA and Mutiny beers which have won several medals in multiple British national competitions.

Relishing St. Patty’s Day with good food and beer is one of the great events to enjoy at a brewery. Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen located at 601 W Holly St in Bellingham will be celebrating St Patty’s Day two days this year on both Saturday, March 15th & Monday, March 17th. The Chuckanut Kitchen has already started the new Irish inspired Locavore menu featuring the best Corned Beef & Cabbage you’ll ever experience.

Join us when the festivities begin on Saturday, March 15th at noon, as Chuckanut Brewery marches in Bellingham’s annual St. Patty’s Day Parade. Entertainment will start in the Kitchen at 5:30pm with Irish dancing led by Sophia Yeckley. After warming up with dance, “Eagles Whistle” will begin playing Irish music at 7pm. Entertainment continues on Monday, March 17th as Sophia Yeckley leads Irish dancing again at 5:30pm followed by Puirt Na Gael, a group of musicians playing Celtic & Irish music at 7pm, closing out a wonderful St. Patty’s Day celebration.

Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen’s Locavore menu features food made with Chuckanut Beer and locally sourced ingredients. It’s no wonder people love Chuckanut’s corned beef, it’s braised in Chuckanut beer. Braised cabbage, Irish potatoes, and Irish Stout stew are also available to compliment the festive corned beef dish. Chuckanut’s beer lineup for the holiday weekend is top notch! This year’s Chuckanut Stout is an Irish Dry Stout with a lighter body and less alcohol than the Export style normally available. It’s easy to drink a couple of pints of this roasted, coffeeish, dry beer and works wonderfully in the Irish Stout Stew. And don’t forget on this holiday weekend the leprechauns are sure to get into our Kolsch and turn it green just for fun! Stop by for a pint and a bite any time after 11:30am each day.
