Anheuser-Busch Contests Left Hand Brewing’s “Nitro” Trademark Application - Oskar Blues Old Chub Nitro

From the DenverPost:

Left Hand applied for the federal trademark in September, attempting to stake exclusive rights to the teimagerm for beer.

Anheuser-Busch then jumped into the fray, asking for and receiving an extension to file opposition, according to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office records. The brewing giant – represented by Denver law firm Holland & Hart – has until June 18 to oppose Left Hand’s trademark application.

While that trademark bid is in limbo, another Colorado brewery is seeking a mark on a nitro beer of its own. Longmont-based Oskar Blues filed a trademark application this month for Old Chub Nitro and in its application submitted an image of as-yet-undisclosed canned nitro version of the Scotch ale.
